This year has brought us some of the best and some of the worst music. Some high highs and some low lows but I’m here today to tell you about some of the best albums of this year so far. THIS IS IN NO ORDER...
1.WILLOW-WILLOW

Let me tell you I’ve been a fan of willows since ARDIPITHECUS and this is no expectation. My first listen was me sit listening to every track and she held my interest through-out. Willow has an almost enchanted voice that sounds like she holds the answer for all your questions. The production in my opinion hits home helping work and bring her voice out even more. With there always being a certain guitar riff for each song that sounds beautiful. If you haven’t heard this project go check it out you won’t be disappointed.
2.Loveworm-Beabadoobee

Simple at its finest form. Overdoing it can make some things sound bad or overbearing which is why I’m glad this project stayed simple but good. With her voice vibrating with emotions over sweet mellow production. Lyrics evoking emotions and being really relatable while being simple. She has also released a live version of the album that is smooth with an acoustic guitar playing and it is beautiful. This is a bedroom pop/indie project that is worth every listen.
3.IGOR-Tyler, The Creator

You knew like I knew this was going to be on this list it hit billboard #1 and with good reason. Not my personal favorite by Tyler but it is GOOD. Over a decade Tyler has been releasing music and he has shown his evolution. With the production just Escalating this project to greater heights and while Tyler has changed his style a little bit he stays with quick and remarkable word-play and maturity through-out his lyrics. The synths in this project are just crazy good madness that pairs up great with Tyler’s voice. This will probably be on a lot of rap list at the end of the year and it is well deserved
4.Rouge-YUNA

Honestly was waiting for Yuna to drop another project and then this surpassed my expectation. I’ve heard everything this woman has released and I can say she is one of my top favorite artist. Here on this project she uses different genres R&B, Pop, Rap and such. Every feature here also helped make the music better which is sometimes rare for any artist. The production is a work of art here and her lyrics are grounded in reality.
5.ZUU-Denzel Curry

You probably got onto Denzel Curry by his album Taboo which btw is a great rap album. This album is a great follow up to that album his flow is still unbelievable production is constantly beyond great. All though a bit different from Taboo it is still a great album and is just another step in his evolution as an artist and it shows that he can make consistently good music.
6.Grey area-Little Simz

i started listening to Little Simz during 2015 and to be able to see her evolve as an artist was just amazing. This being one of my favorite British rappers. The production is so smooth and with her voice is almost magical in a sense with there being jazz and R&B type of production it fits well with the themes and what she raps about. Using drums, piano, and string instruments it honestly just is a big part of why this album is a great listen. The album is basically her figuring out and navigating through-out life and the lyrics express that.
7.WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO- BILLIE EILISH

Now I know a lot of people as soon as they heard this fell in love with it but me at first I hated this album and I didn’t know why but it literally took me 2 months to actually fall in love with this album.
Weird I know but after one more listen it clicked and now I love this album. The album being dark and moody fits the themes and ideas around the songs it just works in her favor. With her soft beautiful vocal on bass induced production to her vocals on softer production everything just fits almost perfectly although there are flaws there are more high points then low.
8.Cuz I Love You-LIZZO

Well well well... here we are I love this album at first I was skeptical but after my first listen I was hooked. She raps and sings and her vocals are beautiful soul inducing. With R&B type production drums and Guitar being the main instruments used for the beats and they great. You would be missing out if you didn’t at least give it a try.
9.WHEN I GET HOME-SOLANGE

With an almost contemporary/alternative R&B track list. Just like some artist I was able to see the evolution occur through-out the music as time passed by and ohh man was it worth the wait. (She’s always been a good artist I’m just saying stylistic changes) This is a well crafted thought-out project. I’ve always loved Solange’s voice it’s so smooth and sometimes almost hypnotic. If you could get high off of music this would do the trick it’s psychedelic.
10.I C U (Music to read to)

This album is ambient music that actually goes with her Graphic novel Genius 1. The sounds are calming but also give you a feel of almost being in a panicky state if that makes any since. It’s just a great ambient instrumental track-list one you should check out if thats what your in to.
Now these are my thoughts mid-year all of this could change next week but we’ll see at the end of the year.
